Aurora Dupree is a former burlesque dancer turned author, who has taken to writing erotic fiction and if “Big Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is any indication of her style, she will be an author well worth following. This particular story revolves around big girl Debbie Beaumont, who wanders into a rock bar on a quiet night out on her own. Having a calming glass of wine, she finds a long-haired, tattooed biker type taking an interest in her and is amazed to discover he’s Clyde Strummer, rock-god lead-singer with the world-famous metal band, Unholy Night. Clyde invites her to the show and to meet up backstage afterwards – he clearly has a liking for women with a bit of meat on their bones. After a hot night on the tour bus, Clyde asks Debbie to join him on tour. Dumping her normal nine-to-five life Debbie decides to go for a life on the road with a rock band. Things are going well until blue-eyed, blonde-haired lead-guitarist, Cedric starts behaving oddly. It transpires that Cedric has a thing for Debbie and seduces her. Debbie finds herself caught in a drama between singer and guitarist and it looks as if she’ll be forced to choose between the two unless she comes up with some way in which the three of them can be together. This is a first-class read – it is pure unrealistic fantasy, but it is a clever scenario and gallops along at an excellent pace. Debbie, Clyde and Cedric are broadly painted characters, but there is enough detail here to make them believable and sympathetic. Let’s hope there is an opportunity to follows the threesome onto their next tour and their next adventure. ( )
