None. Lucy's picture is for her blind grandfather. While all the other students are painting Lucy gathers thinks to make a picture her grandfather can feel rather than see. I love that even though Lucy is a young child she understands that just because he grandfather is blind doesn't mean that she can't make him a picture. She doesn't give up and makes a great picture. ( )Summary: In school, Lucy decides to make a picture for her grandfather. She gathered materials and glue of all textures. She found some materials inside the classroom, and others out on the playground. She made a beautiful picture that could be seen, and felt because her grandfather was blind. Personal Reaction: This story is very good to teach students about people who face challenges. Classroom extension ideas: 1. Gather materials from around the classroom, and out in the playground to make a picture of your own. 2. Discuss individuals who are different, and how those people should be treated. Have a class project to help someone in the community who face their own challenge. This is a story about a little girl who want so make the perfect picture for you grandfather. Lucy goes around looking for the perfect things to put on the picture. This good book to read to students and the pages are colorful. Lucy announces that her grandpa is coming to tea today and she wants to do a picture for him. Her teacher suggests bright colors, but Lucy starts a collage. She adds fabric, twigs, leaves, sand, feathers, and even a piece of her own hair she cut off. At the end of the school day there is Lucy's mother with Grandpa -- who has a seeing eye dog. no reviews | add a review
