Lucy makes a picture for her grandpa who cannot see
  AkiHicks | Dec 2, 2013 |
Lucy's picture is for her blind grandfather. While all the other students are painting Lucy gathers thinks to make a picture her grandfather can feel rather than see. I love that even though Lucy is a young child she understands that just because he grandfather is blind doesn't mean that she can't make him a picture. She doesn't give up and makes a great picture. Summary:
In school, Lucy decides to make a picture for her grandfather. She gathered materials and glue of all textures. She found some materials inside the classroom, and others out on the playground. She made a beautiful picture that could be seen, and felt because her grandfather was blind.

Personal Reaction:
This story is very good to teach students about people who face challenges.

Classroom extension ideas:
1. Gather materials from around the classroom, and out in the playground to make a picture of your own.

2. Discuss individuals who are different, and how those people should be treated. Have a class project to help someone in the community who face their own challenge. ( )
