In September 1942 a small single engined floatplane carrying just two small incendiary bombs made two attacks on the forests of Oregon, USA. It was late in the season and recent rains and fogs had soaked the forests so no major damage was caused. In fact only one of the four bombs dropped appears to have caused any damage at all. In no way does this fact detract from the unique bravura of the attack. The floatplane had been catapulted from the deck of it's aircraft carrier the Japanese submarine I-25, it's pilot was Nubuo Fujita and his observer Shoji Okuda. They were the only Japanese airmen to attack the 48 contiguous states.
There are three main parts to the book: Nobuo Fujita's personal memoir of his attacks on the forests of Oregon. The US Forest Service's response. The visit to Brookings in 1962 by Fujita and the remarkable results.
An interesting little read. Typical small publisher production. Very large font, but well illustrated with lots of contemporary photos, adequately reproduced.
If you want a copy try the publishers web site (www.pnwbooks.com) they are very much cheaper than buying second hand . Copies were still available in 2012.
Recommended further reading: The Fujita Plan, Mark Felton (Pen & Sword, 2006). ( )
