There both the shorter length stories, about 125 pages each so the come across more as novellas than full novels. Still they're interesting and the stories are well done.

The First, A Soldier for All Seasons deals with US Marine Jon Erikson needing to get away from people for a while on some leave from Afganistan. He retreats to a park where park ranger Melinda Hawthorne, a women who also needs to be away from people. They spend Christmas together. There's also a bank robber on the loose.

It was a fun read, the thriller aspects almost felt like an add-on and could easily have been left out without significant impact on the story. The two of them dealing with their traumas together was heartwarming and while you knew that this wasn't the end of them dealing, it was a good start to it. A solid story with some characters who felt very real.

Christmas at His Command is a story of an older couple, both widowed, who are thrown together when General Hank Renshaw has to keep Senator Ginger Landis safe. Story flew past and was quite exciting, the characters, while older, had a satisfying romance blossom between them. ( )
