There were parts that I didn't care for but mostly it was a pretty good read. Had a lot of fun reading this and looking forward to reading the next. There is action, suspense and hot steamy sex scenes. A very good biker mc with very interesting side characters. The areas that I didn't appeal to me had to do with Marie, the fmc. Sometimes she annoyed me. There were also times that I felt the story lag a bit. Not enough to hinder my enjoyment, but I did notice it. I think that had to do with Marie too. She was fun but on occasion got on my nerves. Loved Horse! Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde Book 1 of Reapers MC series. Contemporary romance via a motorcycle club. Marie is living with her brother after fleeing an abusive ex. When Reaper and his group pay a call on her brother she intrigued by the hot muscles and swagger of the men, Reaper in particular. When her brother screws up, Marie finds herself living with Reaper and having to learn the rules of the MC. Drenching hot and steamy. I didn’t really care for Reaper until the two chapters that were from his perspective. Those turned everything around for me. I’m still not a fan of ….well, I’ll just say “to each his own”. 🎧 I listened to the audio version narrated by Stella Bloom. I really enjoyed her performance and have listened to her from different authors. Stella does emotions and steam very well and while there were distinct voices for the couple, I kept thinking that Reaper sounded more like a woman that Marie did. I listened at my regular preferred speed of 1.2 which was approximately conversational speed. Had high hopes for this book...fell short and I'm not sure why. I have this weird feeling after reading this book. Like I've been wronged and not sure by whom or what they did. In fact I feel as lost as Marie did for most of this book. Maybe that's part of the reaction...here's this woman who escapes an abusive husband to fall prey to a badass biker who uses her pothead, screw up brother to force her into a relationship he wants. She wants it too but doesn't know she does and to what level? Horse, seriously...Horse, could we be bombarded by anymore stereo-typical cliches? Ex-Marine turns biker because he's looking for acceptance. Brains and brawn. Heart of gold trying to protect those he loves while trying to keep the bad guys away. And let's not forget the plot...man sees woman. Man wants woman. Woman desires man but is confused. They get together and the world comes crashing down. Someone gets shot, bad guys die. Where I have I read this before...oh yea, everywhere. Only difference was he proposed at the end and not in the middle of the story. Not sure that I'll continue with this series. no reviews | add a review
