He falls asleep and dreams that he has a fire-breathing teacher from the black lagoon named Ms. Green. She even scrapes her nails down the chalk board! This is a great book to read on a first day of school to ease tension that nervous students may have about the first day of school. It is very entertaining and I would reccomend it to others. ( )This is a great book for ELD students that are learning English as a second language. The images really help the student follow the story. This is a great book for younger children. It of course, is a fantasy but the ending is great! It's great for K-2 grades. Media: Ink and pen Genre: Modern Fantasy This is an example of modern fantasy because the story begins with the character's new teacher being from the black lagoon, and she is some type of dragon creature. She eats one kid, zaps another into a frog and breathes fire at yet another leaving only ashes in his seat. We see in the end that this was just a dream the character was having but for a while we think this is really happening to him. The plot is great because it takes a twist at the ending that the reader may not have expected. The story is set up so that we think the teacher is really a monster from the black lagoon and that this student wil be stuck with her all year. She does terrible things to the children in the classroom and suddenly we find out that it all is just a dream and there is actally a nice human teacher. read on 1st day of school 1-3 grade no reviews | add a review
