Another adorable book from the Gossie & Friends series for the youngest readers. Jasper and Joop are goslings who are best friends. Jasper is always well dressed, neat and tidy. Joop rolls around in dust, fluffs his feathers and loves to get messy. Jasper is a bit more reserved around the other farm animals, preferring to stay clean. Joop jumps right in and loves puddles, mud and hay. They both like to explore. One day, Joop sticks his beak into a bee hive for some honey. The bees do not like it and proceed to chase Jasper and Joop away from their hive. It is hard to get away, so Jasper and Joop do not have any choice but to jump into a lake. Because they are best friends, they both enjoy their adventure.

This is an adorable story about how 2 friends can be so different, but still be best friends. The author makes beautiful paintings. They evoke life on a farm. Young readers will have a good idea of what animals on a farm look like. The drawings are vivid and evoke a lot of action. Readers will be drawn to the characters on the pages. They are adorable and designed to appeal to the youngest readers. There is a lot of repetition for emerging readers and it will make for a good read aloud for parents to read to their children.

This is a good addition to PreK-K school libraries. They will complement the existing series. It would be great for a animal book display. It would go well with a farm unit. It would also work as a good example of fiction. It is a good purchase. ( )
