Not impressed at all. Minimal appearances by the series regulars, too much drug/cartel/hooker stuff. Not enough Philly stuff, too much Jimmy Buffet island stuff. Don't waste your time reading this. Go back & re read the old books--now that's writing.

This was intended to be a revealing look in to the evil and moral bankruptcy of the drug and slave trade.Matt Payne, the main protagonist, just seems to be more of a background character here.Typical Griffin and Butterworth story. Over 200 pages of developing a complex story and 3 pages to resolve it This book has more violence, or maybe gross dead bodies are more appropriate term, than the majority of Griffin books. The book ended abruptly and with too many plots unresolved. Whether I'll go on to #12 in the series is in doubt. ( )

A good, readable book, but definitely not anywhere close to the standards of this series set by big W.E.B. Little W.E.B. obviously is doing the writing now, penning this one as a somewhat intriguing, but rushed story with thinly developed characters. Matt Payne, the main protagonist, just seems to be more of a background character here. Also, parts of the book dedicated to rehashing past stories could have been used to better develop THIS story. Not sure how much longer the Badge Of Honor series can carry on like this. ( )

Typical Griffin and Butterworth story. Over 200 pages of developing a complex story and 3 pages to resolve it all. Perhaps the pair is preparing to write a new group of Matt Payne stories. It is frustrating, however, to spend so much time preparing and so little in resolving. ( )

I read this latest novel about the personally rich through adoptive family, Philly detective with a wary eye. As usual Mr Griffin's novels have a hero character with connections. As usual his novels are well written for a quick easy read without being boring. This particular books has some of the normal characterizations, yet the damsel in distress is an idiot. ( )
