Who knew that BDSM would become the biggest trend in book publishing? Rachel Kramer Bussel did and has emerged as one of the top writers, editors and experts on the subject. Serving Him pays homage to those irresistible men who control their partners with a glance, a pair of handcuffs, or a firm smack on the bottom. As true tops, the bossy hunks in these stories understand that erotic BDSM is about exulting in power that is freely yielded. Rachel and her coterie of contributors cover the full range of the male dom's brand of sensual sadism, from spanking and bondage to public sex and power exchange.… (more)

Excerpt from my review on my personal blog, The Itinerant Librarian:

"The strength of this book lies in its diversity. The authors explore a broad spectrum of the erotic dance between the strong, seductive dominant male and the strong woman who thrives and blooms when she submits. The dance takes many forms in the twenty-two stories that the editor has carefully chosen for us."

AS usual, Ms. Bussel has compiled another extraordinary collection of varied and intriguing erotica. Although I was a bit hesitant at first since domination is usually not my prerogative, I was pleasantly surprised (and aroused) by the works here. In particular, I enjoyed the wide variety of tales and the various "levels" of submission included. "Subbing" by Ms. Bussel was definitely my favorite - particularly for the aspect of unwittingly stumbling across someone you know in an erotic encounter. Ms. Bussel has rapidly become one of my favorite erotica writers and editors and her works are consistently arousing, entertaining, and enlightening. Recommended not only as inspiration for solo pleasure, but to share with a partner as well.

Impressive collection of stories, most with sophisticated enough language to not sound childish. As with any collection like this, some were less than great but all stories were pretty short so you never felt stuck.

A solid collection of erotic bdsm stories. For some reason I just wasn't as impressed as I usually am with anthologies like this, I can't really put my finger on it... There were a few stand-out stories that were very hot, but most were rather luke-warm in my opinion. However, I'm not really used to reading the male-Dom female-sub side of things, so that might affect things a bit. ( )

These stories are sexy, but not too extreme. It's an excellent collection for readers who enjoy x-rated, very explicit tales of submission, but without degradation or violence. One thing I wish I saw more of in these stories is active consent. Many of them were situations where it was like "once I opened that hotel room door, I couldn't stop what he would do to me." Yikes. I get that the characters negotiated their sexy times, but still I think consent needs to play a much larger role in erotica and romance featuring BDSM. ( )
