( ) NightmarZ:Asylum is a quick and suspenseful read. The narrative flows smoothly from one experience to the next. Others will likely read this interesting book quickly, trying to find the answer to whether the main character’s experiences are real or imagined…The next installment should be revealing. As usual, I didn't pay anything for this book but instead received it via the kind consideration of a LibraryThing giveaway. Despite this good turn I'll give my positive and negative thoughts on it below. This rather short literary offering encounters our protagonist as the victim of a bizarre attack from which she barely escapes. Rather than receiving the comfort of her family, she suddenly finds herself in the "care" of an insane asylum. The main thrust of the book is to answer the simple and obvious questions: why has she been locked away? Is she crazy or is it the world that has gone mad around her? On the positive side, our author, under the puntacular name of "Irma Geddon" gives us an intriguing bit of storyline that is simple and easily digested. Readers will spin through this very short installment in no time flat... ... which is perhaps at the heart of any negative feedback I would give. While I like the author's approach of short, stabbing installments, there's not really enough here to get hooked on. I feel for the main character and wonder on some level what's going to happen but I'm far from hooked enough to buy the next section. In summary, I like the idea of this book and it brings an interesting blend of psychology and the supernatural. Is she crazy? Will she escape the asylum? What in the world is going to happen next? It's an interesting set of questions posed here. Also kudos on the cover, but you can see that for yourself. PS: It is my endeavor to provide reviews that are succinct, honest, balanced and above all help the potential reader to answer the simple question, "Do I want to read this or not?" Any feedback you can provide about how you feel I have accomplished those goals (or not) is immensely appreciated. no reviews | add a review
