I really enjoy Delilah's voice, and the little details she puts into the storytelling--like Dovey having a swordfight with herself with two cocktail skewers. Very entertaining. I've noticed a lot of reviewers hated the ending, but I really enjoyed it. ( ) Confession: I totally bought this book because I thought the cover looked wicked. What?! I got it for, like, $0.79 during Book Outlet's Black Friday sale. And the synopsis sounded pretty interesting, so why not? Sadly, the inside of the book was not nearly as enticing as its outside. Miss Dawson does a bang up job of creating a super creepy atmosphere, I'll give her that. But I had a hard time really getting into the thick of it because, honestly, I didn't like Dovey. At all. She's . . . bratty. Also, that ending? Yeah, it frustrated me to no end! Loose ends are not a friend of mine. And rumor has it that the sequel hasn't sold yet, so who knows if we'll ever find out what happens. I picked this young adult novel up at the library on a whim. It's an amazing story of a young girl whose life is turned upside down with the death of her best friend. She learns there are demons among us and 'half breeds' exist who can see them walking among us. Feeding off the emotions and turmoil of human life, demons have hierarchies with agendas everywhere. Our main character becomes embroiled in the middle of the demons' world and finds herself in all kinds of trouble. I really liked the strength that the main character shows, and her moral compass. Filled with emotions and descriptives that draw you into the story and make you care about the main character. I hope there will be a sequel to this wonderfully written novel. no reviews | add a review
