Villain was gross. Its all I needed!! ( ) A just-about perfect romance. Two lost souls who find a new life together. Anne Brotherton is a heiress, an extraordinary one, but her guardian controls her money, even after she reaches her majority. So to access her wealth, she must marry someone Morrissey approves. He wants her to marry the most boring man on earth. How to escape? Cause enough scandal so she has to find another prospective husband. Enter Marcus Lithgow, on the fringes of society, full of charm and with pockets to let. He courts her, she rejects him. A charming dance ensues, with a surprise ending. Note: This ia a late Georgian romance set in 1800. Overall Thoughts: I both loved and disliked Marcus and Anne at different points during the story which is probably why this wasn't an "out of the ballpark" read for me. Marcus was hard to love in the beginning and I need to fall in love with the leading guy even if he is a Rogue. It was about the time that I started liking Marcus that I started disliking Anne a bit. I didn't connect with both of them till the last half. I was invested though in seeing how it all turned out. I liked Anne's spunk and her interest in archaeology, history, and learning. I liked that Marcus wasn't opposed to this and even got it. I loved the villagers and in the end was really happy when things works out. Audio Thoughts Narrated By Charlotte Anne Dore / Length: 10 hrs and 8 mins I really loved Charlotte's narration of this story. I thought she had just enough quirky to make Anne stand out and made Marcus roguish. Her pacing, emotion, and delivery was pretty spot on. I think the narration helped through the parts where I was screaming at the characters. Part of my Read It, Rate It, File It, DONE reviews "How To Ruin A Rogue" is the story of con man,and gambler, Marcus Lithgow and heiress Anne Brotherton. Nerves of steel, wit and charm will not help Marcus on his quest to make Anne his, she needs so much more. Anne, wishes someone to love her for herself, her wit, her strong opinions and not her fortune. She begins to fall for Marcus' charm, his quiet seduction until....she learns he is stinging her along, than all bets are off,for revenge empowers her....Marcus soon learns that lust is not all he wishes from Anne, for her wit and charm is empowering to him. Fast paced and filled with past regrets, secrets, passion, Archaeology, finding love and holding on with both hands. Another hit for this author. Ms. Neville is a masterful storyteller who brings insight and power to her stories as well as wit and charm. I can hardly wait to see what's next for this Wild Quartet of men and their leading ladies. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Above the Treeline. Charm, wit, and nerves of steel have helped Marcus Lithgow gamble his way across the Continent. But when his heart is at stake, all bets are off for this most perfect rogue . . . Anne Brotherton is sick and tired of being an heiress. She cannot bring herself to marry a fortune hunter. Why can't men like her for her sharp mind and kind heart rather than her impressive dowry? Just when she is about to bow to her fate as a confirmed spinster, she meets the handsome and charming Marcus Lithgow. It's been years since Marcus set foot in England--why toy with the ton when he can fleece wealthy fools in Paris and Rome? Yet everything changes when he inherits a ramshackle estate. Marcus's first and only chance at a respectable life needs funding . . . the kind Anne Brotherton can provide. Such a wallflower should be ripe for the picking. So why does Marcus feel like he's the one hanging by a thread? She nearly falls for Marcus's smooth seduction. But when Anne realizes she's being strung along, a lust for payback empowers her like never before. Two can play the game of deception. The game of love, however, has its own rules . . .
