Star Crossed by Rhonda Laurel is a contemporary, interracial romance with a plot featuring celebrities dealing with issues of love and infidelity. Lead character and music mogul, Kate Garrison is at the lowest point in her life, but on what seems like the worst day ever, she meets rising star Chris Cavanaugh. This sort of low point and high point sets the stage for most of the novel but it certainly ends on a very high point. Star Crossed shows that life is not always tidy but in the middle of bad situations there can be great things waiting to happen.

Kate Garrison, President of Atlantis Records is mortified when her husband of a few months is caught with his pants down with a Hollywood actress. Kate immediately files for divorce but this feeds the media frenzy. An accidental encounter leads to her meeting Chris Cavanaugh, the lead actor in her soon to be ex-husband’s new movie. Needing a smoke screen to hide their real reason for being caught in a compromising situation, Kate and Chris concoct a ruse and announce they are an item. Her relationship with Chris takes on a life of its own and their pretense starts feeling like the real thing.

To Kate, thanks for making all of my California dreams come true.
First words
The trendy new restaurant, Coriander, was having a busy night, but when the hostess heard that Kate Garrison, President of Atlantis Records and most recent Hollywood scandal victim, was coming to drown her sorrows, she happily made room for her entourage in a private dining room.
“I always remember men who say they can’t commit.”
"She plays like a forty-five-year-old drummer trying to kick a meth habit."
“I would be offended by that comment, but considering your last recording is only available on eight-track, the barb just doesn’t resonate with me.”
