DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Kate McDermott is a good girl who has done everything she can to please her very powerful and domineering father -- a Justice on New York's Supreme Court with hopes for political office. When she decides to write an article about BDSM in popular culture, she tells herself it's just research and nothing personal for she can't afford to become the target of gossip or scandal. She hopes that the carefully worded agreement she writes up will keep her relationship with the Dominant she will interview strictly professional.

Then 'Master D' - Drake Morgan - walks into the interview and Kate is mortified for not only is he gorgeous, he's the son of her father's best and oldest friend…

Billionaire Drake Morgan, MD, bass player, philanthropist – Dominant. Known as Master 'D' in Manhattan's BDSM Community, Drake must keep the kinky side of his life secret to protect his very successful career as a neurosurgeon. After a heartbreaking divorce, Drake doesn't do girlfriends, he doesn’t do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. He keeps everything in his well-ordered life separate and under his firm control.

Then Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up. Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore, and no longer under control for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy… ( )

What a beautiful story. Drake is a man's man with a dominant side. Kate is a girl who is curious about the lifestyle and not sure how to find out. They meet thanks to Lara who is helping Kate write a paper. Little did Lara know that Kate and Drake already know each other. A sweet catholic girl who is horrified to see Drake is the man to teach her everything. Drake introduces Kate to the world of D/s and together they start a journey. Dawn Kate's friend is bound and determined to tear them apart.

What happens when Lust, Sexuality, Devotion crashes head-on with Love, Submission, & Dominance? Like the powerful drug LSD, your life may not be completely under your control. That look across a crowded bar, a warning from a friend, finding out your fantasy is real, discovering your sexual cravings need more, and finding out you can’t keep all the facets of your life in the tiny compartments on a sectioned food plate.

Meet Kate McDermott, young journalism student and daughter of a wealthy, prominent judge running for the Senate. Escaping the career plans her dominant father has for her as a political journalist, and managing her career on her own terms, Kate decides to tackle the popular topic of the BDSM lifestyle. Enter Dr Drake Morgan, neurosurgeon, bass player, philanthropist and Dom - the son of her father's best friend. Through an agreement, Drake is Kate’s guide into the lifestyle, tasked to show her the ropes so to speak, but he notices far more in Kate's behavior than Kate is willing to admit to. Like a spark to kindling, what follows is a combustible, erotic, journey of discovery, and unplanned love.

This book was very enjoyable; the primary characters were well-developed, interesting and believable. The supporting cast, although not as fully developed, helped to tie the story together. The story had humor, emotionally touching moments, good musical references, and hot sexual tension. Unlike many of the current popular books these days, this story has no cliff hanger, is complete in one novel, and provides a satisfying realistic HEA.

The author did a very nice job in weaving the D/s elements of the BDSM lifestyle into the story in an erotic, tasteful fashion, never letting the sexual side of the story dominate the overall plot of the book.

I received this book from the author as an ARC for an honest review

As usual, I struggled with this book because of its 1st person POV, but stubbornly persisted this time. The plot is interesting, the characters are likeable, and it is well-written. Even the age difference didn’t bother me.
It could have been an 8/10... but for the 1st person POV, resulting in endless one-sided conversations in the heroines head, making her come across younger than she actually is and making it boring to read.
Glad it was free. ( )

There are some nice moments in this, but mostly it's too vanilla for BDSM romance, if this makes any sense? Also, best friend blackmailing moment?! I couldn't believe all the drama and Kate being such a doormat about it. I would have just told her to f*ck off. Honestly... Don't think I'll review this, but it wasn't bad. ( )
