An enchanting book. The author wears her scholarship with grace, and the amazing story she has to tell is recounted with humor and understanding. Beautifully written, beautifully structured.
Especially interesting to read now, as a contrast in time. Loved the characters immediately.

I expected greatness from Dakota Madison when I picked up this novel, and I was not disappointed. Her characters are real with real lives - including a past replete with memories. Madison does a wonderful job of demonstrating a different coming-of-age than we usually hear about. Maturing from childhood to adulthood is not the only door we must step through in life. Madison lets us walk with this woman as she moves from one phase of her life to a new one. ( )
