There is a lot of action in this book and a murder mystery with an unexpected solution. I like the main character. She is tough, strong, and kind-hearted; she does not let men intimidate her, she can be ruthless, she hits hard and outwits them throughout the book . Some men will probably hate this book, but I think it is time for women to be allowed to fight back and take responsibility for their lives., Unfortunately, the author has Drusilla (what an awful name!) swearing by Greek gods, which even were she Greek would be absurd, and more so in English. She is supposed to sound British, but I would have taken her for American until I was informed otherwise. Perhaps it is just that everywhere people are influenced by American films & TV. But these are minor cavils. The writing is interesting, the author lets bits of information drop casually during the heroine's first person narrative, the background fills out so that one keeps thinking, "oh, that explains it" or "right, I guess I should have figured that out sooner," and the story build up layer after layer to a neat finish. Great read. Smart, sassy heroine. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader on the edge of their seat and reading. I couldn't stop until I came to the end. ( )
