Everything good sci-fi should be - smart, exciting and funny. ( )

At this point in the game, you're either reading this series because you love it anyway, or you're a sick twisted person who has some real issues with self-punishment.

thankfully, I love this series :D

Really not a lot to say. More of the same. Which is good as far as I'm concerned. Just wish I knew if this was the last book or not.

It could have been, and in many cases, should be. But there was no big This Is the End of the Series. THE END. ( )

You know what to expect when you pick any book from 'Lost Fleet' series. Well written but not a masterpiece. Interesting enough. Good quality. Somewhat wooden characters. All these parameters stay the same. It's good enough for me to keep reading. ( )

Spoiler alert! In the 9th book of this series, the Alliance fleet is still trying to get back to Alliance space! The enemy tactics are new and there are slightly different political problems, but this is pretty much similar to book 8 or book 6, the last time they were near Alliance space. The results are a bit different once they do get back, but this plot is getting to be very familiar. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of character growth, no new characters and society itself seems a bit stuck in a loop. Well written, but lacking in a lot of areas. ( )

The Syndics have surrendered, or have they? The Lost Fleet heads back through a very difficult obstacle course set up by recalcitrant Syndic CEOs. They finally arrive home to a lukewarm welcome and are sent to escort one of their other finds a non human sentient race, to Sol. .Good characters, good pace make for another fine addition to this excellent series, even with its confusing titles.. Admiral Geary’s First Fleet of the Alliance has survived the journey deep into unexplored interstellar space, a voyage that led to the discovery of new alien species, including a new enemy and a possible ally. Now Geary’s mission is to ensure the safety of the Midway Star System, which has revolted against the Syndicate Worlds empire—an empire that is on the brink of collapse.

To complicate matters further, Geary also needs to return safely to Alliance space not only with representatives of the Dancers, an alien species, but also with Invincible, a captured warship that could possibly be the most valuable object in human history. Despite the peace treaty that Geary must adhere to at all costs, the Syndicate Worlds regime threatens to make the fleet’s journey back grueling and perilous.

And even if Geary escorts Invincible and the Dancers’ representatives safely unharmed, the Syndics’ attempts to spread dissent and political unrest may have already sown the seeds of the Alliance’s destruction...
