This book takes a detailed look at the uprisings that have rocked the world since 2008, and looks at the part that the new media have played in their unfolding. It also looks at the flipside, at how dictators, corporations and elected governments use the same technologies for spying, astro-turfing and disrupting campaigns. The author argues that activists ignore at their peril the myriad tools the internet age offers, but that they will still need to take to the streets to bring about change.
