Desire by Marie Rochelle is a great depiction of how love can happen when we least expect it. The novel portrays an interracial romance in which the authentic connection between the main characters blurs and completely obliterates their racial differences. It is an interesting tale of love on the rebound. Desire explores the issue of learning to open to love again and the rich rewards that can come from doing so. The love scenes are sensuous and rather erotic but tasteful. The novel is very contemporary and suited to a broad audience of romance readers. Desire is a quick and lusty read that will be a favorite for many readers.

Tasha Kelly was minding her own business in a coffee shop when the disturbance by an irate customer caught her attention. The perpetrator was gorgeous but she couldn’t say that about his demeanor. Nick Lavery is having a bad day and taking it out on the poor woman serving his coffee. He’s very contrite when a beautiful customer steps forward and settles his bill, in order to end his embarrassing tantrum. Nick returns daily to the coffee shop to repay Tasha but does not run into her. After several days when he’s ready to admit defeat, she finally comes in again and he apologizes for his behavior. Tasha is taken by Nick’s blond, blue-eyed handsomeness and inviting presence while he is captivated by her dark beauty. Despite Nick’s reservations about entering a serious relationship, he falls into an easy relationship with Tasha; drawn to her caring and sensitive personality. Their seamless relationship comes to a grinding halt when Nick’s ex, who unceremoniously dumped him for greener pastures, returns and wants to pick up where they left off. Nick decides to hear her out but Tasha feels betrayed he would even give his ex the time of day. She mirthfully wishes him well with his ex and classily bows out. Realizing his mistake Nick chases after her but he might be too late. It seems he wasn’t looking for love but it found him. Now he must do whatever he has to in order to win back the woman who is truly his soul mate; the only woman he desires.
