I enjoyed The Firefighter’s Woman by Tressie Lockwood because the fires are not the only hot items in this novel. Steven is smoking too with his good looks and an all grown up Odessa has Steven thinking less than sisterly thoughts. Odessa is twelve years younger than Steven but she is old enough to know what she wants and that is Ryan. Ryan on the other hand stamps down his feelings for her because of her age. Once Steven gives in to temptation, the chemistry between them is as combustible as the fires Steven fights. Steven is White and Odessa is Black but this difference in ethnicity is not the problem that keeps them apart. Steven must come to grips with loving a woman several years his junior. I liked this novel because despite the initially faltering nature of Steven and Odessa’s relationship, Steven doesn’t let his hang up on her age prevent them from experiencing the best relationship they’ve both had.

In The Firefighter’s Woman Odessa might be young but she’s old enough to know what she feels for Steven is more than a crush. If only he would see her as more than his best friend’s kid sister. A vacation away presents the perfect opportunity for Odessa to express her feelings for Steven but her happiness is tempered when he agrees to a brief affair but promises nothing beyond that. After a wonderful two weeks in which Odessa experiences heaven in Steven’s arms, she is heartbroken when he leaves without saying goodbye. Devastated by his brush off, Odessa takes a job in Tokyo with the hopes of forgetting Steven. This proves impossible when she discovers she is pregnant.
