The Right Christmas is another great novel by author Dahlia Rose. This book is all about communication for me and the dialogue between Zariya and Patrick is absolutely entertaining. Zariya has a tongue like a whip and Patrick is loaded down with sarcasm. Together they are riotously funny. This contemporary, interracial romance hinges on two people who at first seem very different but discover they have a lot in common. I enjoyed the scene when Zariya is finally recovered from a long illness and they are playing a game of Monopoly. The flow and easy camaraderie here is simply priceless. This story delivers some really good writing and the dialogue assigned to each character really fits with the descriptions and make them feel realistic. I usually go through several books before finding the ones that resonate but I was only two books in when I found this gem. Hats off to Dahlia Rose for a good read.

Zariya Huette sacrifices her life in New York to live and work in Alaska creating beautiful fragrances. She loves her job but the thought of spending another Christmas in the arctic climate is simply too depressing. When the opportunity arises to spend holidays in New York, Zariya immediately accepts. Unfortunately her plane crashes and she is left to find a way out. She eventually stumbles upon a cabin and Patrick Vallen. Patrick is not happy to have his solitude invaded and especially by a woman who reminds him of everything he is running away from. Zariya and Patrick can barely tolerate each other in the small confines of the cabin but when Zariya falls ill, a contrite Patrick nurses her back to health. Zariya and Patrick discover that when they are not at odds they actually have a lot in common. It doesn’t take long for their closeness to become intimacy and right in the middle of nowhere, they both find love. There is only one problem, Zariya is looking forward to being rescued while Patrick would like nothing better than remaining with Zariya in their little piece of heaven away from the world.
