Jane Toombs has been a favorite for a long time. This book is another spellbinding example of work from an author who seems to be able to write well no matter what the subject matter. The romance has its ups and downs for both Lyda and her aunt when suspicion is thrown on both Comstocke and Benedict, Detra’s new beau. Characters are well developed and fun to get to know. There’s enough suspense to keep us guessing as Ms. Toombs weaves the magic and intrigue between two couples. This is a great bit of writing that helps us take the cruise and tour the Bahamas for free along with the paying passengers.

Cassie’s sensitivity made her the perfect person to receive messages from beyond, and her willingness to pass on the information was another way for her to help comfort the families she saw while at work. Drew’s initial impulse, to sweet-talk Cassie out of the postcards and the underlying story, was shattered when he found himself immediately attracted to her. The postcard from Cassie’s husband provided both Cassie and Drew with some much-needed closure, and I was glad that Drew finally recognized there was more in the world than only what we can see. This short story was a lot of fun to read, and would be a perfect addition to your Halloween library.
