This book was a joy to read! There was a murder and all the mystery of a whodunit. There was a love story between the chief investigator and the prime suspect, although they didn't recognize it themselves until the end of the story. But best of all was the dynamics of the stereotypical large Italian family that ties the whole story together.
I would recommend it to everyone who likes a lighthearted and fun story! ( )

Delayed in Death is the first in a series called Temptation in Florence by author Beate Boeker. A cozy mystery series that is sure to grab you and transport you into the lives of the enormous Mantoni family, who most of the members live in the same building in Florence, Italy. No privacy there. Believe me this is one crazy Italian family. Told with enough scariness and humor to make this a fun read. I loved the snarky humor of Carlina, the lead female character as she tries to figure out who killed grandpa. The murders and attempted murders are no laughing matter though. Commissario Garini has Carlina in his sights as the primary suspect although he does find that after awhile he does start to believe her protestations of innocence in the deaths. There is an attraction between Carlina and Garini, although the romance is not the main part of the story. This book, has it all, a killer, humor, lots of humor, and enough excitement to keep the reader wanting more. There are some editing issues that are easily corrected but all in all I thought this was a great story and I think I will read the next in the series.

I received a copy of this book for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review. ( )
