Born in Zurich and educated in Paris, jewellery designer Suzanne Syz moved to New York City in the 1980s where she encountered legendary artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Francesco Clemente, and Jeff Koons. Her relationships with these creative spirits greatly influenced her impressive contemporary art collection, and acted as a catalyst for her unique jewellery designs. Frustrated that she couldn't find the jewellery she wanted, Syz began crafting her own pieces in the mid-1990s. Today, the Geneva-based designer boasts a client list including the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Glora von Thurn und Taxis, the Archduchess Francesca von Habsburg-Thyssen, and Michelle Yeoh. Inspired by nature, childhood fairy tales, art, and her extensive travels, her one-of-a-kind creations are infused with an unparalleled sense of whimsy, joy, and magic. Syz's audacious compositions, use of unconventional materials, and choice of bold colours breathe individuality into all of her pieces. This beautifully illustrated book explores everything from Syz's love for art, her family, and her inspirations, which are categorized as "Pop," "Naturally," and "Contemporary." Organized in an alphabet format, with each letter representing an important aspect of her boundless originality, this title also features an interview-style text by art critic Nicolas Trembley that delves into the visionary jewellery designer's inner workings. With original photography, personal photos, and imagery of some of her most magnificent pieces, Suzanne Syz: Art Jewels is a delight for jewellery lovers, art aficionados, and creatives everywhere.
