Gaspard swallows a key chain and must have an operation to remove it! This is one of the better entries in the Gaspard and Lisa series, from a story perspective (not all of them have a beginning, a middle, and a coherent end, ha ha). A good bit of bibliotherapy to show kids that being in the hospital, while scary, will help you and that good things result.

In the first part of the book Gaspard is a dog walker, which is funny - I thought Gaspard and Lisa were dogs... maybe they are rabbits. Or indeterminate animals... Anyway, it's pretty cute because he walks this gigantic black dog, a black lab, maybe, who completely dwarfs him. ( )

Gaspard the Dog Walker buys a shiny new race-car key chain with the money he earns walking dogs. When his classmates admire his treasure, Gaspard panics thinking that someone will try to steal it and–oh, no!–swallows his new key chain. Suddenly he doesn’t feel so well.

Gaspard goes to the hospital, where he meets the friendly doctors and nurses who make him feel better.
