This magical tale is about the most famous knight of fabled Camelot. He was orphaned when he was just a baby and was later raised by the Lady of the Lake. Lancelot grew up to be handsome, strong, and intelligent. But he also grew up to be arrogant and cold and did not want to show kindness like most great knights did. Young Lancelot gains a lot of enemies throughout this story and realizes that he has forgotten the two most important qualities of a great knight. Young Lancelot hopes in the end to become the greatest knight of them all and learn to be brave and show kindness. I think the message of this book could teach people to never loose sight of what’s important. ( )

One book out of the series San Souci did retelling the stories of the Court of King Arthur.I found it interesting that he chose to address Lancelot's background and not the often told Lancelot/Guinevere story. I did love the theme too. For that reason I would use this book to talk about language choice (archaic language) and theme. ( )

Lancelot, the most famous knight of fabled Camelot, was raised by the Lady of the Lake, a powerful enchantress. He grew to be handsome, strong, and intelligent--but also arrogant and cold. When he joined King Arthur's Round Table, his prowess as a warrior was unquestioned. But he had forgotten two of the most important qualities of a truly great knight: mercy and tenderness. This is the story of young Lancelot and his quest to become the greatest knight of all--a knight both brave and kind.
