If you're a fan of DuckTales or Scrooge McDuck you can thank this good duck artist (or man). Carl Barks is one of these names that, if you read comic books, you'll hear about all the time. In one way or another, many artist and writers of comics were influenced by him in someway. He took what Disney did with Donald Duck and created an entire duck world with great characters, adventures, and stories. Not only that, Disney saw what he did and liked it as well. He had to say anonymous when he wrote the stories, but I think fan found out and he actually liked the attention.

This first volume doesn't have that much story, there is some though. It's more slap-stick humor, but still a lot of fun. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy these either. Barks' art is some else I think. He can go from something cartoony to something serious within a few panels. Plus, there is some bonus material in the back too, though, not as much as I hoped. I do plan on getting a few more of the volumes.

Another reason I bought this book and plan to with the others is now that I actually own six ducks, my liking for Donald Duck has gone way up. Disney and Barks, to me, seem to actually get ducks compared to other cartoons. Ducks have different personalities. I have some that are in fact adventurous and some that seem a little lazy. Live is like a hurricane here in Duckburg.

Regardless if you have ducks or not, if you are actually into comic books this collection isn't bad to have in your liberty.

NOTE: This book isn't all about Christmas. Just two stories. You don't have to wait till Christmas time to read this. ( )

Quite nice. Some good stories in there. Obviously clever and well thought out. Good to see the origins of Uncle Scrooge. ( )

It's interesting to see how the characters developed and changed over time. ( )
