( )This is a very cute story about a girl and boy who are spending the summer at their grandparents farm. One night, a meteor lands in their backyard. This news travels fast and the whole town comes out to see it. Everyone believed that this meteor brought them good luck and everyone from the town felt special after they had seen it. This would be a great book to read to students if you are introducing space/meteors as a new science lesson. It doesn't really talk in detail about what a meteor is, but it is a fun read to get students interested in learning more about outerspace. I would recommend this book to students around kindergarten - 2nd grades. This is a book about a girl thinking back to years ago when her and her brother spent a summer at their grandparent's farm in Michigan. One night, the house began to shake and things were falling everywhere. The shaking stopped right after a loud BOOM. Once everyone went outside to see what was going on, their grandfather exclaimed "why, its a fallen star!" The next morning, after many phone calls were made, the entire town seemed to know about this meteor and therfore they were all stopping by to look at it. It was not long before there were meteor lunch baskets, meteor lemonade, meteor rides, and much more being made. The celebration grew bigger once scientists confirmed that it was indeed a meteor that had landed in the middle of their front yard. Then, everyone began touching it and that day became a very special day for the people in that town. Years later, that same meteor was moved to be used as the grandmother's headstone. I would read this book to children in kindergarten through fourth grade. This is a great book to read to children when they are learning about space and objects such as a meteor. I think this is a book that would really keep the children attentive because it is not something that occurs all the time. Trisha and her brother were spending the summer on the farm with Gramma and Granpa. One ordinary night the house started shaking, dishes fell, and a flaming object crashed to the ground. Granpa declared that it was a falling star, but Gramma said the proper name which was meteor. Word of the meteor traveled fast in the little town and soon everyone was coming to celebrate. Soon the farm became a carnival of meteoric events. Some people touched the meteor and said that it brought them magic. The book is recommended for third and fourth grade students.
