Ms. Dunwich has compiled a wonderful herbal reference source. The herb lore at the beginning of the book is a fascinating read. Some of the information presented there is archaic, but it is still highly useful to any practicing herbalist or Green Witch. There is a nice section of theme gardens which includes suggestions for plants and ways in which to use them. My favorite was the Witch’s Wishing Well garden which suggested bamboo, beech, buckthorn, dandelion and others.

The herbal correspondences section is quite thorough and includes the Latin names for all the plants, which is always a plus. Many texts refer to plants with their common names, which may vary from region to region. In order to be sure you are using the herb you think you are, Latin names are a must. A fact the author is obviously aware of. The only drawback to this section was that plants were not grouped according to association or magickal use, which would have made searching for what you needed much easier. Other than this, the entire book is a delight and well worth the price. ( )
