A USA Today best-selling novel Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded, and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word. Lincoln Caldwell is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At 24 and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He's gorgeous and carefree - the ultimate charmer. Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it. When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athlete's fury. Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution. Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell. And she just might find that she has misjudged him. **Note From Sawyer Bennett: This book is part of the Off Series but it can be heard as a standalone book. Nothing in the prior or subsequent books will diminish your understanding of this novel. This is a New Adult, Contemporary Romance.… (more)

It's not bad per se, but the guy could have been a lawyer for all the difference his job makes in this - and stupidly, I expected more hockey (I'm a dork, I know) - and I had a hard time getting past the journalism stuff that is entirely unrealistic. It might be just details to most, but even in a romance novel, I kinda like things to make some sense, else I'm just annoyed and I can't enjoy the book no matter what.

Anyway, the thing is that, basically, the plot is just an excuse to have really hot sex, and all that sex is probably great, but I skipped over most of it... (I'm not prudish at all, but I'm not very comfortable reading graphic sex anymore. Heh.) ( )

Absolutely hands down the best book so far in the series.
This book had me huddled by my bed and my husband asking me if I was okay. It brought me seriously to my knees. I loved Ever although I wanted to punch her in the nose at times but I loved her story. I thought that Linc was amazing. I cannot wait to finish this series. Hands down AMAZING Story. ( )

I absolutely love this book and this series. I am so glad to have discovered this author. In this book Linc and Ever have a very rocky start but in the end love shines through. Great story I highly recommend to everyone. ( )

I love New Adult Contemporary Romance, so when I heard about this book, saw the cover, and found out it was about a hot hockey player, I was sold. I just love sports themed romances. Lincoln Caldwell is hot, of that there is no doubt, and yes, the ladies fall all over him, but who could blame them. He is also charming, and oh so very swoon-worthy. When Ever Montgomery wants to do a story on him, he is more than happy to oblige, because truth be told, he is a really great guy. Ever is friend of Emily's, and Emily is Linc's brother Nix's girlfriend. The interview takes place during a party that Linc is throwing for his teammates and their families and friends. Everything seems to go great, and Linc is in fact, very attracted to Ever, even asks her to dinner. Despite her best mental efforts, her body has ideas of her own and she finds herself quite attracted to Linc to. He really seems like a nice guy. Ever is coming out of a very bad breakup and declines the invite. While at the party, she sees several things, misinterprets some, and some she doesn't, but the end result is an article that is more like a expose painting Linc as shallow, a womanizer, and a player. Linc is irate when he reads the article and decides to take action. When given the choice of spending six weeks with him 24/7 or facing a lawsuit, Ever's editor sends her on the six-week assignment with Linc. In all sincerity, he really wants her to see the real him and what he's like, and even though he's mad at Ever, he is also looking forward to getting to know her better, and that is just what he does.

Ever soon realizes that she may have made a mistake as she gets to know Linc up close and personal. She is attracted to him physically, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Linc is just as attracted to her, but he wants her to see him as someone other that a player, which provides for some very entertaining situations as they get to know each other better. I loved watching their relationship progress, but Ever has some serious issues that have left her emotionally scarred and she has built walls of ice around her heart that even the hottest of the hotties have a hard time melting. When push comes to shove and it's down to the wire, will Ever give in, or will she push Linc away for good? Off the Record is a very entertaining and steamy contemporary romance. I loved Linc...everything about him. Sawyer Bennett created the perfect guy when she wrote Linc's character, and she definitely has a talent for creating the best best book boyfriends. I felt so bad for Ever. She is really a good person who has had some really unfair situations thrown at her in life. You get a glimpse into the source of her pain in the beginning which enables you to understand where she is coming from. I did want to shake her a time or two and tell her to look at what was in front of her, but Ever has to progress through the journey of finding, giving, and receiving love and forgiveness at her own pace. If you are a contemporary romance fan and enjoy a good love story that is entertaining, sexy, fun, and an overall great read, then Off The Record and the whole Off Series by Sawyer Bennett is something I would definitely recommend checking out.
