Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle by Manda Scott

  1. 10
The Light Bearer by Donna Gillespie (Jakujin)
Jakujin: I'd certainly associate Boudica with this one. Not a few of the auto-recs like Iggulden and Scarrow. Not much in common there. Light Bearer, also a tribal fight against Rome, a woman fighter, and my mind at least shelves them next to each other.
  2. 00
Ravens of Avalon by Diana L. Paxson (kraaivrouw)
kraaivrouw: Same story, very different takes.

A bit strange but enjoyable ( )

Listened via Audible, loved the staging, the reading and the sound effects. Compelling story telling with clearly drawn characters who develop through the challenges they face. Highly recommended. Have started book 2. ( )

Really impressive historical-fantasy epic. Has a very tragic feel to it, what with the setting up of the two opposing characters. Had this one on my shelf for ages, so I note that the trilogy the backflap spoke of turned into a quadrilogy (quartet?). Will have to try and get the others from the library (support your local library, because it'll support you!). ( )
