When I was young, I read a good number of romance novels. Lately, I have been wondering why I do not remember any titles. I had thought that it must be because the stories were not worth remembering, but I have begun to suspect that my inability to remember might be more a function of their being drowned by the flood of more recent titles.

So I began hunting through old publisher names, and then through older author names and voila! I found one that I remembered liking. Don't know if this would suit my current tastes, but the fact that I do in fact remember enjoying this book as a girl made me do a happy dance. Wonder if I dug further, would I disinter other pleasant relics of my girly youth? ( )

When Rev. Charles Armitage arranges a marriage for his third daughter Deirdre with the fabulously rich fashion plate Harry Desire, she decides to rebel because she is in love with someone else and thinks Desire is an idiot. When her plans go awry, she begins to suspect that she may have underestimated him. This is a charming series and this is my favorite book in it. ( )
