This is more like the stories I have come to expect from Ms. Brooke. There isn't much suspense in this story but there is a bad guy. I was glad that Pete "Mac" MacDougal is in Jasmine White's life when her ex-husband decides to make an ass of himself. I was thrilled to read that Mac was such a dominant male. I was also happy that Jasmine seems to enjoy Mac being such a dominant male. Mac is divorced but he isn't bitter and while his self confidence is a little shaken he still goes after Jasmine. He knows that she is the woman that he is looking for as a mate. I also liked that Mac is a landscape designer.

Jasmine has spent three years rebuilding her life after her divorce. She has gotten her daughters into college and has begun to rebuild her self esteem. She is leery of getting into a permanent relationship with Mac. But when Mac ambushes her one evening she realizes that he might not be like her ex-husband after all. It takes some persuading for her to come to believe that things might work out between them. I was glad that there wasn't a lot of anxiety about whether Mac will be faithful.

This is a nice quick read that doesn't require the reader to keep track of all the clues to solve the mystery at the end. There is quite a bit of hot steamy sex that burns up the pages. There are also a number of dominant/submissive scenario played out. None of these are hard core in the least. They are well done and sexy. This is one of those books that would be perfect for a rainy day or day on the beach. ( )
