I enjoyed the book "Ping and Pong Are Best Friends (Mostly)" by Tim Hopgood for a couple of reasons. First, the illustrations are really engaging for children. The pictures are very simple drawings made up of basic shapes and colors. They also are done with crayon. Secondly, I liked the characters Ping and Pong. I felt that they are relatable to anyone, especially children. Ping enjoys different activities, so does Pong. Pong seems to be better at everything that Ping enjoys. Ping eventually is better at something, nothing! It was a cute concept, that doing nothing is a thing. It makes sense, because some people really cannot enjoy doing nothing. Depending if the reader is a Ping or a Pong, they had a character to relate to. The overall message of this book is that friendship is not a competition, everyone is good at something, and friendship is important. ( )
