» L'auteur de ce roman s'appelle M. de Beaurieu ; il a fait plusieurs ouvrages médiocres, entre autres l'Abrégé du l'Histoire des insectes de Réaumur. Il est d'Artois. Si ceci est un roman, c'est un roman très philosophique et assez singulier ; la première partie est la plus intéressante ; la deuxième est un tissu d'aventures ordinaires. Il y a une nouvelle édition de 1771, très corrigée et ornée do figures ; elle est en trois parties au lieu de deux. Nota qu'à la première édition de ce livre (Paru, 1764, in-12), M. de Beaurieu eut l'imprudence de l'attribuer à 1. J. Rousseau ; cette supercherie fit vendre le livre, mais a fait tort au vrai auteur, qui a été connu. • D. P.
