As always it is a never ending roller coaster of Bourne's fights and escapes. The story takes place mostly in Mexico with side trips to Israel and China. He is on the path of revenge for the death of his loved one, resulting in the death of almost every character in the book, friend or foe. More room for new characters in the next book. I like the short write ups on the progress of each character as the story moves on, all aspects of the story gets filled in, each character on its own path, heading for the inevitable crash. And to top it all off, the surprise ending was a surprise. All my reviews and other tidbits can be seen at https://pensionersrants.blogspot.com/ The Bourne Retribution by Eric Van Lustbader is another excellent Jason Bourne novel. He has done a good job continuing the Robert Ludlum series about Jason Bourne. The story picks up after the last novel when Bourne lost a woman he had come to love in Mexico. Bourne is recovering in Israel under the protection of the Mossad. The story is about the daughter of Maceo Encaracion returns to Mexico City to take over her fathers many businesses including his involvement in drug trafficking. She has been in China where she is married to a Minister in the Chinese government who is maneuvering to climb higher within the government and eventually lead China. The Minister, Jidan Ouyang, has a back story in Bourne's history with Mossad and his lover who died in Mexico City at the hands of Maceo Encarcion. Bourne is being guided and assisted in avenging the death of his lover and is after retribution with those involved. The story is like the other Bourne novels in that he seems to accomplish his mission with much loss of life and blood. The story is like the others in that is a well told thriller that keeps you intrigued and guessing at what is going to happen next. And usually you are wrong about the direction of the story. The story jumps from Israel, to Mexico City, to China and back many times. no reviews | add a review
