Folk Tales compiled by Wu Min has a few stories that are familiar to me such as the ones that are like Romeo and Juliet, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and Hua Mulan Joining the Army (Mulan). These stories would be good to compare and contrast with other versions for class discussions. Other stories are full of magical events and immortals!

They are very interesting to me, but seem like they would be difficult for children to read. They are illustrated with colorful drawings on some pages. The vocabulary would be more suited for secondary school.

There is no age provided for level of reader. The book does help for understanding the historical and traditional Chinese culture. ( )
