The big wet balloon is story about two sisters and how they spend their saturday. It is by the world-renowned cartoonist Liniers. The graphics are sweet and cartoon-like, which is appealing to children of all ages. The book is comic strip style. There is a spanish version as well. At the end of the book the sisters learn a valuable lesson. A classroom activity that could go along with this book would be to have the students share a time they learned a lesson.

Quite cute, and well done comic book with not so many words. I suspect the tenderness of the story will appeal more to the parents of the readers than the readers themselves. ( )

I absolutely love this book. My favorite part is the way the big sister interacts with her younger sibling There is also the classic losing a balloon distress done wonderfully and fun in the rain. This wonderful book uses the graphic format just beautifully.
There is a TIPS FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS: How to read comics with kids - page in the back of the book which concisely explains comics and also has a reading level chart. One comment "don't be surprised if a kid finds some of the comics' subtle details faster than you" - is soo true. ( )
