British espionage in Germany, during WWI (Drink to Yesterday) and in the run-up to WWII (A Toast to Tomorrow). The tone is light, and veddy Brit, but one of the authors was in fact a German speaker who served in intelligence during WWI. Dated today, with some of the prejudices of its time (1940-1941). Still, great reads, with a sympathetic portrayal of many German characters which is surprising. ( )
