*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

This book is trying way too hard. There's a lot going on, and it all happens entirely too fast. I hate to say this, but this book felt like word vomit to me.

This book has a lot of "telling" instead of showing. The writing style is choppy, and non-linear. I'm fine with multiple POV's, but in this case the changeovers happen in the middle of a chapter, instead of separating them by chapter, which could have helped.

There's not enough build up at the start to even give this a solid backbone for why everything happens the way it does. Sarah and Mattie's relationship is fake, and I quickly guessed that Sarah had some sort of mental health issue, but rather than slowly building up to it, or adding subtle clues, the scenes are all played out in unusual time jumps and jumbled interpositions and events.

Mattie's relationship with Jeremy doesn't have any depth, and moves plainly and quickly. They have one minor conflict about him working too much, but other than that they are picture perfect. She meets his family, his family love her, it's like a Hallmark movie.

Then some things happen, Mattie sort of changes her identity and moves, and then same kind of scenario happens with another guy.

But then Jeremy, still pining after her, makes his way back into her life (after taking a sabbatical and making it his full time job to find her, because that's realistic)

It wraps up all too nicely.

This wasn't written so terribly that I considered DNF'ing, but I didn't feel much of anything for the characters.

I did appreciate the descriptions and scenes involving the island town of Mercer, and the enthusiasm over Cade's music. And I loved that Mattie loved to cook. I wish that could have been showcased more descriptively.

Other than that though, I don't really recommend this.

This was a well written story and the author drew you in quickly with the storyline. It is has some great ups and downs. I did like how the author separated each characters talking points.

You fall in love with Mattie and feel her heartbreak. And 2 leading males Jeremy and Cade who steal your heart. Definitely book boyfriend worthy.

I gave this 3 stars because this was a good book and I finished it within a week by reading each night. I rate books based on my ability to put it down and not read non-stop. This book kept my interest up to where I wanted to read it during my time I allow myself but I did not find myself reading during lunch or breaks.

First of all, thank you to MK Harkins for giving me an opportunity to read and review this book! The fact that much of it is set in my little corner of the world makes me giddy :)

Now, onto my review!

Intentional is a very well-written book. MK does a great job with weaving a story and including point of views from 4 very different characters. Writing as that many people takes talent! MK definitely has what it takes to be a great writer, you can tell she knows what she is doing. So many self-published books feel well, self-published. This book has polish and feels like a professionally published book.

I am not going to re-hash the synopsis...it's too hard to not give anything away! There is betrayal (which made me want to kick a certain person's ass). There is love. There is a rock star. There is heartbreak. Really...it has it all!

One thing I will say is that this is a plot-based book rather than a relationship exploration based book. Intentional is really about the story... rather than the people in it. That is not to say that you don't get to know the people, but you explore the story much more than you explore the characters. It's a good thing, though. The story is great! I really enjoyed following it.

There was a a part of me that wished that I could have gotten to know the characters a bit more. Who they were outside of their experiences in this story. I think that there were some really great characters that could be explored and expanded. (maybe next book, MK! Especially since the main character is swoon-worthy!)

Another thing to know, if it matters to you, is that this book is definitely PG. It's all very clean, which you don't always find in romance land!

Again, I am so proud of you MK. You did an amazing job with this book and I am excited to see what you come up with next!
