Disappointing. Interesting info re life in remote fishing villages, but reads like a travelogue with statistics re villages. No info re artistic heritage or development of patterns. Patterns are few and simple - interlocking motifs made with lines of yarnovers. ( )

In the Author's Words....
"In preparing the designs for this book, I was inspired by Yup'ik and Inupiat art and culture. None of the designs in Chapter 8 is a traditional Oomingmak patttern; to obtain the real thing, you will want to contact the co-op. By working one of more of these patterns, however, I hope that you will gain a deep appreciation for the traditional designs while increasing your own knitting skills."
