Tess and her friend Gus wait for the school bus on the first day of school. Tess keeps asking Gus "Is this the bus for us?", and he keeps telling her no until finally the school bus does come and they get on and go to school.

Classroom connections: Good for young readers because there is a lot of repetition on the pages. The pages also show the front ends of different vehicles so children could guess and predict what kind of vehicle it is. There are good vocabulary for ELL students to learn the words for ambulance and fire truck and other big trucks.
