"San Francisco Detective Lindsay Boxer is loving her life as a new mother. With an attentive husband, a job she loves, plus best friends who can talk about anything from sex to murder, things couldn't be better. Then the FBI sends Lindsay a photo of a killer from her past, and her happy world is shattered. The picture captures a beautiful woman at a stoplight. But all Lindsay sees is the psychopath behind those seductive eyes: Mackie Morales, the most deranged and dangerous mind the Women's Murder Club has ever encountered. In this pulse-racing, emotionally charged novel by James Patterson, the Women's Murder Club must find a killer--before she finds them first" --… (more)

This book truly tugged at my heartstrings. That doesn't mean it lacked explosive crime drama. Not a page went by without bullets flying and bombs exploding—belly bombs this time! While Lieutenents Lindsay and Richy are tracking down the outrageous killers that create these horrific surprises for burger lovers, Cindy is stalking her own killer—Mackie Morales, serial killer Randy Fish's girlfriend. When I thought the plot couldn't get any crazier, Yuki and Brady are hi-jacked at sea! I love this series because the chapters are short, the dialog is witty, and the characters are endearing. Sometimes, the outlandish situations skirt the edge of plausibility, but it's never dull or tedious with filler or backstories. Needless to say, it's best to read the series in order. It's like tuning into your favorite soap opera. ( )

I have read every single one of these. the people who said this was poorly written must have given up on the series before they even started it was great

I admit, I am a series junkie! I eat up books in a series where I know and love the characters. I think this one was much better than some of the more recent ones. Three plot lines going, but it was not confusing. Couldn't put it down! ( )

Clair Washburn: Medical Examiner
Yuki Castellano: Attorney
Cindy Thomas: Crime desk reporter

The Story:

I absolutely devoured this 13th story in the WMC series. Seriously, it took me less than 19 hours. Though I thought my mind could use a break from tense, murdery reads my random spinner chose this series twice so I went with it and apparently it was the story I didn’t know I needed. I’m a little scared to eat fast food right now but I’m sure my cravings will get over it soon. How these authors keep coming up with these characters and situations while also keeping our main cast fresh is amazing to me. Besides my love for Lindsay and the other ladies, the “what else could possibly happen to them” factor is one of the main reasons I’m hooked.

There were three separate plots, which in my opinion, were disjointed, particularly because the four women in Patterson's Murder Club were barely together. One had to do with fugitive Mackie Morales, who is being tracked by the intrepid reporter, Cindy; one had to do with pirates hijacking a ship, where Yuki is honeymooning; and the last had to do with belly bombs and blackmail of a California burger chain, involving Lindsay. Barely any Claire at all. These writers can and have done better.
