Finally close to finishing up Confessions by JJ Rousseau and up after that is The Communist Manifesto because I realized that despite my supposedly radical leftist politics, I've never read the thing (I'm not a communist.) My at home/commute reading was Never Let me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro ...

... materialist engine driving this progress, namely, capitalism, which would transform the whole world. A large part of The Communist Manifesto is a paean of praise to capitalism. No one believes this, until they read it. Go on, do it.

Before one tackles Capital, one should first read The Communist Manifesto. 18 Brumaire is also lively and entertaining. Marx is wonderful as a political polemicist. "Capital" was written when he was a failed revolutionary, becoming more introspective and analytical.

In my day I read (on sly) in Jr. high school Das Capital and The Communist manifesto by Karl Mark. I had purchase them in the 'Revalutionists Book Store' in Manhattan. What can I say it was the 60's.

>5 I read The Communist Manifesto a few years ago. I found it very interesting that a big part of communism is for there to be no progress; if there is no progress, then it's easy for everyone to have the same thing and not to have to get more and more 'stuff.' So we can all be at the same level.

... it seems like you would really want to get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Am I crazy to suggest reading the Communist Manifesto? In fact, you could just flip to the last few pages and read the ten point political program. That is a two minute crash course in Marx right there. ...

... But the lesser-known artist profiles, especially the Austrians, are fascinating. I wouldn't count The Prince or The Communist Manifesto, mainly as an age thing. I want to focus on primarily 20th century writers. But their impact is undeniable. As far as dark, evil books, I have ...

The Communist Manifesto was my pick for my classics book group. I understand where Niall Ferguson's title The Cash Nexus no doubt comes from, now. However, I think I need to read Marx's Capital for wider understanding of belief and intent. But I'll probably leave that, as well as The Weal ...

The Communist Manifesto is a great book and would have had much more impact, I think, had he been talking about automatons instead of human beings. The Communist Manifesto.

For impact on the 20th century world I'd have to go with The Communist Manifesto. That was as fast and powerful a spread of ...
