"This book is a collection of my two epic ballads, 'Seekers of the Fleece' and 'Lakota,' which together comprise 'A Ballad of the West.' Since 1965 my artistic intention has been to synthesize several traditional forms of entertainment in order to create a comprehensive poetic, historical, musical and dramatic expression of the lives of certain individuals, events and eras of the nineteenth-century American West. Inherently, 'A Ballad of the West' is a multi-media performance work which should be seen, heard, and read to ensure a complete experience.
