A quick read about a mother and her son Yulian and their escape from Poland when the Nazis invade. They flee over the snow capped Carpathian Mountains, a dangerous and tricky route, but it is their only way to safety. A Good book to relay history in a fiction format that is not too hard for readers 10 - 12 to relate to. Mother's ultimate plan is to make it to America and write a book about the horrors and difficulties she experienced. Will she reach her destination, she does not know, but she and Yulian will fight with all their might to reach their destination and keep on living. ( )
