I enjoy Mann's writing, and he does capture the spirit of ACD but there is not a huge amount of story here. The plot is fairly thin and Holmes doesn't really get to spread his wings much. I can't help but think that there is a lot more that could have been said about Holmes during the Great War. A bit of a missed opportunity. ( )
