I liked ninety-nine percent of this book, because the premise had exactly what I was looking for. We have Gareth, the tormented hero. He’s just been dumped and he’s a “lone wolf”. He’s not in a pack anymore because he’s too alpha to take orders, but doesn’t want the responsibility of being the alpha. He’s also tired of sharing his girlfriends with his pack brothers. Any unmated she-wolf can mate with any or as many wolves as she wants. Only mated ones are off limits. His luck doesn’t get any better when he’s jumped by eight vampires and forced into a blood slave prison.

Now for my favorite character! Helen. She’s a very old, very, very strong vampire who isn’t looking to “tame” her food. But something about this alpha warrior calls to her. When he headbutts her (yup) she decides she’s going to show this puppy who’s boss. She’s ornery, demanding, and can throw him across the room without even trying. The byplay between the two is humorous and often dirty. In their heads the running monologues are constantly about sticking things in certain places and uses for mouths… you get the idea. If you’ve ever read an Eve Langlais story, then you know she’s very steamy and raw. So why did I not like the last one percent? There’s a turn in the story in the epilogue actually, and the sequel is called Sharing His Vampiress… which seems to me to be a one-eighty from what he was complaining about earlier. If you love threesomes or moresomes then I would suggest this book because that’s what the sequel is based off. If you don’t, I’d read the book and skip the epilogue entirely. Enjoy!
