Betrothed To Mr. Darcy takes place after Darcy and Elizabeth are engaged but before the wedding. As you may know, Darcy had come a long way in Pride and Prejudice, but has he changed enough to withstand his future mother-in-law? And let's face it, Mrs. Bennett would have made even Mother Theresa swear.
Darcy is faced with many uncertainties as Elizabeth faces doubts of her own. Bedford writes a sweet story of love and understand between two very different characters and their expectations for life after the wedding. Darcy also worries about Georgiana and how being indirectly related to him might affect her. Also when Mrs. Bennett gets out of hand in a dress shop and word gets back to Darcy, things get a little heated.
Bedford stays true to P&P and doesn't vary far from the original story line. Darcy is still plagued by his duty to the Darcy name, and Elizabeth has come to realize that Darcy may not have been as out of line as she originally thought when he first proposed. This is a story that fans of Pride and Prejudice will want to read. At roughly a hundred pages, it's a great afternoon read that will leave you warm and fuzzy.
