This is a mid-length fantasy novella of the legend & myth variety, and the research done by the author is abundant and in-depth. Characters are solidly built, not especially deep at first but progressing as the story develops, and the plotline's a bit more than the usual hero's journey. The illustrations are a nice touch, showing how the spellcaster is worn and how it works. I enjoyed the read. ( )
